A Better Planet

We are committed to integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into everything we do. Over the past year, we have taken significant steps to formalise our ESG strategy, setting ambitious targets and implementing robust measurement frameworks to drive meaningful progress.

We have been working this year on developing our ESG strategy which we publish in Spring 2025. This strategy outlines our commitment to sustainability, responsible business practices, and social impact. With further plans to publish our first ESG impact report where we will align our efforts with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and leading ESG reporting frameworks, including the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

A core focus this year has been on measuring and reducing our carbon footprint. We have eliminated our Scope 2 emissions entirely this year by transitioning to 100% renewable electricity contracts across our operations and purchasing carbon offsets where applicable. Additionally, we are setting clear reduction targets for our Scope 1 emissions, including our fleet and heating systems. To further enhance our climate impact assessment, we have begun implementing measures to track and quantify our Scope 3 emissions, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of our total carbon footprint.

In the year to support our carbon reduction goals, we have also introduced Greenly, a carbon accounting software that enables us to accurately measure, manage, and report on our emissions. This data-driven approach will allow us to track progress against our targets and identify further opportunities for emissions reductions across our value chain.

We remain dedicated to building a more sustainable future and will continue to set ambitious goals, refine our strategies, and collaborate with stakeholders to create lasting impact.

Our Pledges

We are committed to ensuring a sustainable and successful future for our young people.

1% of our annual net profits will be allocated to community development and investment activities.

We are proud to be part of the local communities that we operate in.

To further support them, we will invest in local projects to enhance the lives of our children, young people, their families, and the community.

All schools will receive Eco-Friendly school award by the end of 2025

The Eco-Schools programme provides a simple, seven-step framework empowering young people to make a difference in their school, local community and beyond.

After working through the seven Eco-Schools steps, 24 of our schools have now received this award

We will open the UKs first zero carbon SEN school by the end of 2027

We will utilise locally sourced materials and passive design strategies to minimise carbon emissions from construction. Innovative energy systems, including solar panels and geothermal heating will power the school while offsetting emissions through carbon capture and storage initiatives.

We will support 1 million parents and carers of SEN children by 2030

There are currently 1.5 million children with SEN across the UK. Over 60k parents, carers and professionals signed up to our free expert advice and support last year and with our growth plan in place, we will reach more parents, carers and professionals than ever before.

100% of our engaged alumni will be in employment, education or accessing direct WG futures support by the end of 2025

We believe that every child deserves the right to have a future filled with happiness, purpose and success, and we commit to supporting our young people to achieve this. Our Futures Team offer career advice, support, work experience, ambassador sessions and work placements, with the aim to support our young people into employment.
